Pages? Links?

I am going to need an About page, and a Contacts page, unless I want to keep the default one-page theme. Created “About”, but did not change it… Perhaps this is the critical bit – that until something is changed, there is no urgency to “Publish”, and thus nothing much changes.

I also put some text on the Homepage (magic) but was unable to make “links” work… I would like to have something for show+tell next week (written 9 Aug, but describes 2 Aug).
